Court rejects bail in Nanak Nagar Shiv Temple desecration case

JAMMU: Additional Sessions Judge Jammu Rajesh Sekri on Saturday rejected the bail application of Rajinder Singh, son of late Sugriv Singh and Suresh Kumar, son of Algo Ram who were Challaned by the police in Nanak Nagar Shiv Temple desecration case.
According to the police case that on 16th June, 2016 Police Station Gandhi Nagar came to know that one Gurbachan Singh, son of Harbans Singh, resident of Nanak Nagar, Jammu had trespassed into a Shiv Temple at Khalsa Chowk and in furtherance of criminal intention to hurt the religious sentiments of Hindu community desecrated and disrespected the idols installed.
On the receipt of aforesaid information, the police swung into action, registered FIR No. 137/2016 for offence under section 295 RPC and investigation came into vogue.
During the course, the investigating agency besides other legal formalities recorded statements of witnesses under section 161 CrPC and got statements of material witnesses recorded under section 164-A CrPC.
