SRINAGAR: Former Minister Abdul Gani Vakil termed the convening of meeting of united opposition by former Union Minister, Dr Farooq Abdullah as political opportunism with the intent to exploit innocent, depressed and maimed people of Valley. In a statement issued here on Sunday, Vakil raised some questions over timing of convening such meeting when the previous meeting convened by former Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah besides their discussions with President of India and Prime Minister were unfruitful and meaningless.
Vakil said that the genuine and justified demands put forth by united opposition before highest authority of Indian Union viz. stopping or prohibiting use of pellet guns, judicial inquires into killings and holding of meaningful and result oriented dialogue with Hurriyat Conference met the same fate as of Autonomy resolution passed by J and K Assembly during NC regime and dumped in dustbin as usual. He said since decades as consequence of dual policy and vote bank politics adopted by National Conference people of Jammu and Kashmir are till date suffering and are unable to come out of vicious turbulence engulfing this Valley from time to time. He said that if NC and other opposition parties are really sincere to people of J and K and are concerned about innocent killings and hundreds of blinded or injured people then adopting compulsive tactics to force Government of India to resolve Kashmir issue once for all than sacrificing their membership of Legislative Assembly becomes inevitable and mandatory and then they can become eligible for seeking apology from people of J and K.
Senior Leader also reiterated that regional parties like NC and PDP have always exploited people of J and K particularly Valley either on Autonomy or Self Rule but unfortunately they forget all poll promises after grabbing power and PDP has also adopted the same path after coming to power with the support of BJP. He said that time is not far away when PDP will be severely punished by electorate particularly in Valley for their misadventure with poll promises like demilitarisation, repealing AFSPA etc.
