Warwan: On the directions of Congress President Sonia Gandhi, a high-level Congress team led by it’s State Chief G.A Mir reached out to fire sufferers of Sukhnai Warwan a far-off place with a very difficult hilly terrain in District Kishtwar and took stock of the damages caused to them. The fire has damaged the entire village within no time leaving the poor inhabitants high and dry.
The team comprises MLA and Vice President G. M Saroori, MLA Gulzar Ahmad Wani and Senior Leader and former MLA Balbir Singh.
The team made on-the-spot assessment of the damages and the problems confronting the devastated families in the backdrop of the major fire incident, in which hundreds of souls lost their households and other belongings, leaving them shelter-less.
Expressing deepest concern over the devastation caused, JKPCC Chief G.A. Mir while terming the incident as most unfortunate and highly painful assured the affected of every possible help from the Congress party especially from Congress President Sonia Gandhi, who feels highly concerned about their rehabilitation. He told the people at Sukhani that Congress Party is committed to their rehabilitation and will do everything possible to ensure respite to them in this hour of distress.
He blamed the PDP BJP Coalition for failing to reach out to the affected at this time of need and urged upon the Govt not to waste time in providing assistance people affected by the devastation, who are already living hand to mouth that too with great difficulty, besides remaining cut off from the State for about six months during the winters. On this occasion Mir, Saroori, Wani, Balbir Singh distributed relief cheques worth Rs. 50 thousands to each family sanctioned by Congress President Sonia Gandhi among 120 Families of Sukhani. They have also announced 30,000 to each family besides 10 blankets each out of MPLAD of Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Gulam Nabi Azad, which will be distributed by the District Development Commissioner, very shortly.
