CM takes stock of development, tourism projects

JAMMU: Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti on Monday visited various parts of Jammu city to personally take stock of the developmental works in and around the winter capital.
During her visit to Bagh-e-Bahu, the Chief Minister was informed that the work on the Jammu Ropeway Project is in full swing and it will be completed by March 2018 at a cost of Rs 62 crore. The Jammu Ropeway project will take off from Peerkho and would in teh first phase land at Mahamaya wherefrom it will be them taken to Shahabad.
The Chief Minister was informed that the Food Craft Institute Jammu constructed at a cost of Rs 6 crore will be commissioned by the end of this month. She was informed that the projects already approved for execution in Jammu tourism sector include development of border tourism facilities at Suchetgarh at a cost of Rs 5 crore, construction of amusement park at Sidhra at a cost of Rs 8 crore and development of tourism facilities at Katra at a cost of Rs 3.48 crore.
The Chief Minister was informed that the other projects in pipeline for Jammu division include International Yoga Centre at Mantalai coming up at a cost of Rs 80.60 crore, development of tourism facilities at Bhagwati Nagar at a cost of Rs 17 crore, development of tourism facilities at Rajouri and Poonch at a cost of Rs 16.25 crore, development of tourism facilities at Bhaderwah and Kishtwar at a cost of Rs 14 crore, development of tourism facilities at Sudh Mahadev at a cost of Rs 5 crore, development of tourism facilities at Panchari at a cost of Rs 5 crore and development of convention centre at Patnitop at a cost of Rs 9 crore.
Earlier, addressing a gathering after laying the foundation of Rs 10.82 crore light and sound fountain at Bagh-e-Bahu, the Chief Minister said that modern tourism facilities are being developed from Ranjit Sagar Dam in district Kathua to Mughal Road in district Rajouri to promote Jammu as an independent tourism destination.
Legislator, Anjum Fazili, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, Navin Kumar Choudhary, Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Dr Pawan Kotwal, Secretary Tourism, Mr Farooq Ahmad Shah, Deputy Commissioner Jammu and Director Tourism Jammu were also present on the occasion.
