Budget will bring radical changes
Dear Editor,
The Union budget is a befitting rebuttal to Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi’s persistent campaign against the Modi Government that it is for the industrialists and the rich, and is anti-farmer, anti-labour and anti-poor. Nobody can find fault with Union Minister for Finance Arun Jaitley on taxing the rich to pay the poor. Away from the tradition of populist budgeting to please all, Budget 2016-17 was focused on where it ought to be. Rural distress, poverty, and unemployment are big spoilers for India.
Measures taken in the Budget will bring radical changes in rural and agricultural economies. It will improve the economic condition of the agricultural sector and the farming community. While economic experts and the industry are happy with the Budget, the middle class, the main victim of inflation, has been left high and dry. The government should muster courage and put a limit on the agricultural income exemption.
