Budget Session—litmus test for PDP-BJP

JAMMU: The month long budget session is likely to be the first litmus test for the BJP-PDP alliance government after the killing of Burhan Wani and its aftermath.
A week after the maiden Budget Session during the tenure of Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti ended on June 30, Hizbul Mujahideen terrorist was killed in the encounter with the security forces and in the aftermath of killing of Wani majority of districts f Kashmir valley witnessed unprecedented cycle of violence for over 100 days.
During the period politicians were discredited by the angry protesters as they shied away from coming on the surface to pacify the angry crowd of youngsters.
Though the Chief Minister has already directed leaders of the ruling alliance to keep their nerves and not to allow the opposition to hijack the smooth functioning of the legislature but the opposition parties too would not lose an opportunity to corner the Mehbooba Mufti led alliance government.
In addition, the warring factions within both the ruling partners are out in the open to destroy their enemies within the party.
The Kashmir based legislators are set to raise the issue of hardships faced by the common Kashmiris during the period of unrest and economic losses suffered by the transporters, tour operators, and other segments.
On the other hand the ruling alliance would focus on highlighting its developmental agenda and explain to the masses the progress on the implementation of Rs 80,000 crore developmental package announced by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
