Breach in Partap Canal floods three villages

AKHNOOR: Besides damaging the siphoning bridge over Partap Canal the swollen Devipur Nallah water entered in the area of three villages and caused damage to the crops, houses and households in theses villages.
According to report there was abrupt flood with heavy current in Devipur Nallah early in the morning on Tuesday which damaged the siphoning bridge over Partap Canal taken out from Chenab River. Three villages including Devipur, Bomal and Panjgrain were affected.
Immediately on receipt of information the MLA Akhnoor Rajeev Sharma alongwith SDM Akhnoor, XEn Flood Control, XEn Irrigation Civil and Mech. , SDAO Akhnoor, Tehsildar Jourian visited the villages Devipur, Bomal and Panjgrain which were water logged due to sudden flash flood. The MLA asked the officers of the concerned departments to carry out a survey and make an assessment of the damage in these villages. XEn Flood Control and XEn Irrigation were also asked to take immediate action for controlling and channelising the canal water.
