JAMMU: Achieving a major breakthrough, police on Saturday arrested two notorious bike lifters and recovered 16 motorcycles on their disclosure.
This was informed by SSP Jammu Dr. Sunil Gupta in a press conference held here at District Police Lines. The SSP was flanked by R.C Kotwal, SP Headquarters Jammu, Sugandha Mahajan, Dy.SP, Headquarters Jammu, and Inspector Bushan Singh Manhas SHO R.S Pura.
It is pertinent to mention that under operation ‘Chetak’ launched by Dr. Sunil Gupta SSP Jammu, a team was constituted to recover vehicles stolen from different Police Stations of Sub-division R.S Pura under the supervision of Harjeet Singh SDPO R.S Pura and R.C Kotwal, SP Headquarters Jammu. The team is headed by Inspector Bushan Singh Manhas SHO R.S Pura assisted by Sub Inspector Askar Hussain and police officials from Police Station R.S Pura. Giving details, the SSP said that the aforesaid police team arrested two suspects namely Vickey Kumar, son of Jeet Raj, resident of Kothey Bure De, R.S Pura and Vishal Kumar, son of Romesh Lal, resident of Talli Morh Miran Sahib. “During sustained questioning the above mentioned duo suspects disclosed their involvement in different vehicle theft cases of districts Jammu and Samba. On their disclosure the Police team recovered 16 motorcycles stolen from different locations of Jammu and Samba worth Rs 8 lakh approximately. “With the recovery, Police of sub-division R.S Pura solved nine vehicle theft cases i.e seven cases of Police Station R.S Pura, one case each of Police Station Bagh-e-Bahu and Police Station Ramgarh District Samba”, the SSP divulged adding that people should visit police’s Facebook page ‘Avtar’ for information regarding recoveries and photographs of other stolen vehicles.
