Youth empowerment, employability high on NC agenda: Rana

STATE TIMES NEWS
NAGROTA: Envisioning a big push to employment generation in next six years, National Conference candidate from Nagrota Devender Singh Rana on Saturday said employability has been main plank of the policies pursued by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah in his ongoing first term.
“Youth aspirations have to be met by carving out adequate opportunities for both educated and skilled youngsters”, Rana said while reaching out to the people, especially youth across the constituency.
He was addressing a series of election meetings across the constituency.
Rana referred to several initiatives taken by the Omar led government in public and private sector besides devising schemes to enable enterprising youth to become entrepreneurs, saying these have helped achieving dividends in a big way. He made a mention of skill development programme—Sher-e-Kashmir Employment and Welfare Programme for Youth—besides Himayat and Udaan initiatives taken up by roping the country’s private sector in a massive way to address to the unemployment problem.
“Like other parts of the State, the youth from Nagrota can also make a mark by taking up challenging positions in most competitive and lucrative sectors”, Rana said, adding that National Conference led government has devised a transparent mechanism in filling up vacancies in the government departments. He also referred to special drives organised for the youth, one of them recently in Nagrota, and said opportunities keep knocking the doors of those ready to take up challenges with fortitude.
