Jammu: A CBI officer was killed when his motorcycle met with an accident near St Peters School on B C Road while crossing a speed-breaker, police said on Saturday.
Paloura resident Prashant Sharma, a Deputy Superintendent of Police in the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), was on motorbike (JK02BD/5343) (Black coloured Bullet Classic), when the accident occurred during the intervening night of Friday and Saturday. Prashant was coming from Bus Stand towards Jewel side, when the mishap took place.
The accident resulted in severe head injury to Prashant Sharma, son of Dharam Pal Sharma, resident of Paloura. He was rushed to the Government Medical College, Jammu. He died while being shifted to a hospital in Punjab for specialised treatment, police said.
His post-mortem was conducted at the Government Medical College, Jammu, and his body has been handed over to his family after legal formalities.
Prashant Sharma, DySP CBI has investigated JKPSI recruitment scam case, JE recruitment scam case and many other important cases.
He was also investigating case registered against IAS officer Navin Choudhary. Family members of DySP Prashant Sharma have demanded that impartial and fair probe must be carried out by police to dig the truth.
Jammu police states that CCTV footage checked from nearby shops showed the bike was coming at great speed and then skidding after hitting the speed breaker. It was raining and prima facie it appeared that DySP Prashant Sharma couldn’t control his motorcycle on speed breaker and met with the accident. Postmortem has been conducted by board of doctors under videography. “Prima facie it appears that deceased received serious head injury. Further investigation is underway by special team in the case to explore all possible angles and to ascertain possibility of foul play if any,” police said.
