JAMMU: Showcasing their presence, a group of gangsters associated with Abu Jat, the main murder accused in Akshay Murder Case opened fire on late Saturday night at two places in R S Pura and Miran Sahib targeting a sweetshop owner and a contractor.
Abu Jat, who is in judicial custody, has claimed through an instagram post on late Saturday that his gang members have opened fire at two places in R S Pura area. Police has started investigations and started conducting raids at suspecting places to nab the gangsters who opened fire on Khajuria Sweet Shop owned by Om Prakash Khajuria at R S Pura and a contractor Tinnu of Miran Sahib.
Abu Jat, was arrested in Akshay murder case, wherein the other accused gangster Vasu Dev alias Shunu, resident of Ramgarh, was killed in police action at GMC Kathua campus and PSI Deepak Sharma was martyred.
The incident at Khajuria Food Mall in Miran Sahib, Jammu, where miscreants opened fire, created panic and concern among the local residents.
According to reports, unknown gangsters on a scooter approached the sweetshop, with their faces covered, and one of them fired at the mall, shattering the windowpanes and glasses.
In response to the incident, local police, including SHO Bhupendra Singh and SDPO RS Pura Nikhil Gogna, along with a police team, arrived at the site to investigate the matter. Police is scrutinizing the CCTV footage installed within the mall premises to gather evidence and identify the perpetrators.
The incident has reportedly instilled fear among the shopkeepers and residents of the Mira Sahib market, as it marks the occurrence of such a serious incident after many years.
The owner of Khajuria Food Mall, Omprakash Khajuria, expressed concern over the audacity of the miscreants and the potential threat posed to customers and businesses in the area.
It is very strange that if in wake of model code of conduct, police has already seized all the weapons from the license holders then how these gangsters managed to hide their licensed weapons? asks Khajuria, adding either these gangsters have unlicensed weapons which means they will again target the innocent citizens for extortion.
