Dear Editor,
Every year, 8th March is celebrated as International Women’s Day as a tribute to the strength of women and honour them for their achievements. However, it is being observed that nowadays, many women of marriageable age are postponing marriage or choosing to remain single as they have realised that economic independence can empower them.
Women have come a long way in all spheres, which were once considered as male bastions. They are successful journalists, lawyers, pilots, astronauts, police/armed forces officers, film personalities, politicians, writers, CEOs and what not. Women want to come forward and contribute in building up new and progressive India.
It is need of the hour to encourage their participation in the decision making at home, in the community and at the national level.
