JAMMU: The world primer Agency, United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) has nominated Prof G M Bhat of Department of Geology, University of Jammu, a leading Geologist to act as a member of Scientific Board of Geoscience Programme (IGCP) to provide important technical expertise and advice on scientific projects to be approved and supported by IGCP.
The IGCP has remained one of the most successful and cost efficient Geoscience ventures for both organisations since its inception more than four decades ago. The Scientific Board further provides link between reputed international geoscientists and IUGS/UNESCO staff, which manage IGCP.
In a letter to Prof G M Bhat the Secretary Chief, IGCP, Earth Science and Geohazards Risk Reduction Section, UNESCO and President International Union of Geological Sciences (IUGS) has written, “We recognize your scientific qualifications and exceptional professional accomplishments and sincerely congratulate you with your appointment to IGCP Scientific Board.
On behalf of UNESCO and IUGS, it is a great pleasure to welcome you as member of IGCP Scientific Board for a term of four years (2020-2024).”
