JMC organises awareness camp under SVEEP

JAMMU: Under Systematic Voter’s Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) programme, the Jammu Municipal Corporation organized two days awareness camp on 17th and 18th October, 2016 at NSM College of Education, Bohri and Town Hall Premises wherein students of NSM College and MIER College of Education, B.C. Road including staff of both colleges, Election Supervisors and Booth Level Officers encouraged the participation of youth in democratic process under the supervision of Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) of 72- Jammu East and 73- Jammu West in collaboration with Election Department, J and K.
The aim of SVEEP awareness is to formulate policies, lay down the frameworks, plan interventions and monitor implementation besides carrying out continuous discourse with voting public, civil society groups and media and mainly aimed at voters awareness and education towards improving electoral participation in the country.
Ashwani Sudan, Revenue Officer JMC welcomed all the dignitaries and the participants.
The Dy Chief Electoral Officer, Krishan Lal briefed all the participants about the SVEEP activity and active participation of youth in democratic setup.
Joint Commissioner (Adm) JMC and ERO of 72- Jammu East, R.S Jamwal and Ranjit Singh Secretary JMC and ERO of 73- West Constituency gave a detailed description about the NVSP portal for online registration of any person whose name is not included in the electoral roll of a constituency. He /she may apply to the ERO, AERO, BLO for the registration of his/her name in the electoral roll by filling of Form No. 6 (addition), Form No 7 (deletion), Form No 8 (correction) and Form No 8A (transposition). She/he should not less than 18 years of age on the qualified date. Special Summary Revision camp 2016 is going to be held on 22nd October 2016.
