JKMUN 2016 held at JKPS Kunjwani

JAMMU: It is proud moment for JK Public School, Kunjwani to hold session of JKMUN for the last 12 years. Every year the session of Model United Nations is held at JK Public School, Kunjwani, to educate the students about functioning of United Nations. The recognition to MUN in J and K was first given by JK Public School, Kunjwani in the year 2005 and now it is being followed by many schools in J and K which is enhancing this programme year after year. It is an educative and informative session which gives the students an opportunity to learn about United Nations and the major international issues in the progressive world. It also involves and teaches researching, public speaking, debating, and writing skills, in addition to critical thinking, teamwork and leadership abilities. This year 14 schools and 37 teams participated in the event. The participating schools were APS Damana, Model Academy, Banyan international, MV International, DPS Kathua, Jammu Sanskriti, APS Nagrota, Heritage School, KC International, Jodhamal Public School, GD Goenka, APS Kaluchak, JKPS Kathua and host JKPS Kunjwani. Each participating school was allotted a specific country under three committees, UNHRC, UNODC and Interpol. Every delegate was to debate on issues like economics, human rights, political and social instability, drug abuse and violation of territorial integrity and sovereignty by intelligence agencies. The judges for this session were Kiran Rajput, Principal Govt. S.Sc. High School Gandhi Nagar and Beena Gulati, Teacher Govt. School Gandhi Nagar. Brig. Sukhdev Singh, Director JK Educational Society, S.K Singh, Principal JKPS Kunjwani, T.S Bist, Principal Jodhamal Public School and Nirmal Mahna Principal DPS Rajbagh awarded the trophies to the achievers and certificates to the participants. Top performances of the session: The Best Delegate UNODC and Interpol was won by Jodhamal School and in UNHRC by JKPS Kunjwani; High Commendation UNODC, UNHRC and Interpol by Jodhamal Public School; The Best Position Paper UNODC by JK Public School Kunjwani, in UNHRC by Jodhamal Public School and in Interpol by APS Nagrota; The Best Country Profile by JK Public School, Kunjwani; The Best Country Project by JK Public School Kathua; The Best Attire (Boy) Jodhamal Public School; The Best Attire (Girl) JK Public School, Kunjwani; The Best Conduct (Boy) JK Public School, Kunjwani; and The Best Conduct (Girl) APS Damana.
