Govt should give Rs 50 lakh compensation to families of martyred soldiers: SRS

JAMMU: State President, Shri Ram Sena, Rajiv Mahajan on Saturday lambasted the BJP-PDP Coalition Government for providing inadequate ex-gratia and compensation to the families of the martyred soldiers.
Condemning the highly apathetic attitude of the J&K Government and particularly that of BJP Ministers, Rajiv Mahajan pointed out that Delhi government had announced an ex-gratia of Rs 1 core to next of the kin of slain martyr and similar announcements made by several other states excepting J&K.
Rajiv, while addressing a press conference here, said that the State Government has been disregarding its martyrs even in the past with no ex-gratia having been paid to the army jawans who sacrificed their lives for honour of the nation and its flag.
He pointed out that despite highest sacrifices of several warriors of the State particularly of six martyrs of Dogra Regiment who were killed in Manipur attack last year, the J&K Govt. failed to even mention their supreme sacrifices.
Strongly condemning the BJP-PDP Government for failure to recognize and honour the great sacrifices of valiant Jawans of military and para-military forces, Rajiv Mahajan called for posthumous awards to such martyrs with immediate announcement of Rs 50 lakh ex-gratia compensation each to their families.
He also demanded from state government to provide free education to the wards of martyred Jawan.
Demanding safe shelters for the border migrants as pattern of Jagti township for Kashmir Migrants, he alleged that there was no arrangement for the hapless victims of Pakistani firing in jammu province.
Rajiv expressed serious concern over the inaction on the part of State administration and alleged that victims are not being taken care by the government. There was terror among the border villagers and they were spending sleepless nights due to continues cross border fire by Pakistan, he said adding the affected border migrants really need special attention and they should be rehabilitated at the safer zones.
He said that the Government should identify some places in safe areas and rehabilitate the affected border people there to protect them from the Pakistani firing.
