Army foils infiltration bid, 1 militant killed

Srinagar: Army on Thursday foiled an infiltration bid by militants along the Line of Control in Keran sector of Kashmir, in which one ultra was killed while two soldiers sustained injuries.
“An infiltration bid was foiled by alert troops along the Line of Control in Keran Sector.
“One militant has been killed so far,” an army official said.
Two soldiers sustained injuries in the exchange of fire with the infiltrators, the official said adding both the jawans were evacuated to a hospital where their condition is stated to be stable.
He said the operation was in progress till last reports came in. On Wednesday three militants of Hizbul Mujahideen were eliminated in Dadsar village of South Kashmir’s Tral area.
Police and Army’s 42-RR cordoned off Mir Mohalla of Dadsar and conducted searches in the village after they received information about presence of three militants. They have been identified as Mohammad Asif of Dadsar, Ashiq Hussain of Bahu Sharsu and Sabzar Ahmad of Ratsuna Tral of Hizbul Mujahideen outfit.
As the security forces zeroed in near a residential house where three militants are trapped, locals pelted stones on security forces leading to clashes.
Police fired teargas shells to quell the protests and also fired few aerial gunshots. However, the protesters continued to pelt stones in order to give safe passage to militants.
