‘Allotment of constable posts as per guidelines’

SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir Police on Friday said the allotment of constable posts for various districts of the State in recently announced recruitment drive has been done as per the guidelines.
“While granting sanction for raising of 5 IR battalions in the State, the Union Ministry of Home Affairs vide letter No.16011/10/2011-PF.IV dated 10th February, 2016 has communicated that the recruitment in these battalions shall be carried out on the basis of 60 per cent posts to be filled from border districts and 40% from the remaining districts of the State,” a statement issued from the Police  Headquarters said. The statement said as per census of 2011, the Jammu District has a population of 15,26,406 souls and thus out of 4,340 posts gets 578 posts being a border district, while as Srinagar with population of 12,50,173 souls got 383 posts being a non border district.
The statement further said that while issuing the advertisement notice for filling up of 4,340 constable posts due consideration was given to the MHA direction and posts in each district were distributed accordingly.
“For 386 posts of Armed Police and 655 posts of Executive Police posts were distributed as per normal distribution,” the statement said.
