83 housed in relief camps

KATHUA: District Administration organised three more relief camps In Kathua and Hiranagar Tehsils where 83 evacuated persons have been safely housed in government buildings and tents. These persons were evacuated from banks of flooded Ujjh river at various locations like Kore Punnu, Khandwai, Bhamberwan, Krandi Kalian and Pla.
Deputy Commissioner Kathua Dr Shahid Iqbai Choudhary, accompanied by Addl Deputy Commissioner Prasanna Ramaswami, Assistant Commissioner, Anshul Garg, SDM Sohan Lai and Tehsildar Hiranagar visited various areas and relief camps established by district administration. Medical facilities, drinking water, ration and other supplies have been made available at relief camps. SDM Hiranagar Sohan Lal, DySP CM Defence Kewal Krishan, DySP Ops Prithpal carried rescue operations at Rajbagh and Kore punnu Twelve families were rescued in Rajbagh area, one in Krandi Kalian, three in Khandwai and one in Kore Punnu and ten families in Bhamberwan.
Deputy Commissioner also inspected SDH Hiranagar, Tehsil Office, and other Government buildings damaged by heavy rainfall. He reviewed the ration supply and provision of medicines to the rescued persons.
Meanwhile SDM Basohli Gurmukh Singh and Tehsildar Billawar assessed damages due to heavy rainfall and provided relief to affected families.
Ujj river crossed danger mark and reported level of I, 52,000 cusecs at 6:30 AM. As many as 61 villages in Kathua District have been affected badly by heavy rainfall and floods. District administration has carried out relief and rehabilitation measures at all affected sites and round the dock response services have been kept in place.
