JAMMU: Abhishek Pathania shall be playing against Abhi Gupta in the final of the First 6-Red Ball District Championship, organised by J and K Billiards and Snooker Association, at Billiards Hall MA Stadium, here tomorrow.
Earlier, in the semifinals, played on Sunday, Abhishek defeated Abhishek Goswami 4-3 (38-15, 26-40, 07-33, 34-27, 33-02, 11-32, 42-35) in a closely fought game. In other semifinal, Abhi Gupta trounced Jaswinder Singh 4-2 (38-24, 49-20, 48-38, 24-36, 21-34, 45-19).
Meanwhile, the sub-junior snooker competition got underway wherein Akhil Gupta, Pankaj Kumar, Sanand Sharma and Varun Kumar emerged winners. The Results: Akhil Gupta beat Shan Singh 2-1 (51-14, 43-45, 55-29); Pankaj Kumar defeated Aryan Tal 2-0 (60-08, 70-24); Sanand Sharma blanked Padam Gupta 2-1 (39-45, 56-25, 49-39); Varun Kumar trounced Jayant Kumar 2-0 (50-25, 43-19).
In the meantime, as per the already laid down schedule of events, the entries for junior and senior snooker shall close tomorrow, a day before the competition that is going to start from 30th August. The draws for junior snooker shall take place at 5:00 PM on 30th August.
