AAP slams BJP, RSS for double standards

JAMMU: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday slammed BJP and RSS for adopting different parameters in dealing with students’ issues in Jammu and Kashmir as compared to rest of India.
Addressing a press conference here, member AAP Vipul Bali said by taking a glance at the incidents going on in many eminent universities and colleges of the country, it seems that BJP and RSS are in direct conflict with the students of the country. “The recent incident is from National Institute of Technology Srinagar, where students who chanted ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ and hoisted National Flag were beaten very harshly by the Jammu and Kashmir Police, exposing the double standards of BJP. They beat the students who chant pro-India slogans in Srinagar while they do exactly opposite in the rest of the country. Through these acts, BJP and RSS are trying to divert the country from real grievances of Aam Aadmi”, he maintained.
He said that recently Union HRD Minister Smriti Irani made it compulsory to hoist the National Flag everyday in each and every educational institute of the country but when the students of NIT Srinagar tried to do the same, they were beaten very harshly and were made prisoners inside the campus and denied meeting with the media persons. “Meanwhile, Deputy Chief Minister of the State Dr. Nirmal Singh appears and instead of condemning the incident, tried to justify it”, he added. Condemning the incident, AAP demanded that cases against NIT students should be withdrawn, action should be initiated against guilty police personnel and Smrit Irani should start Tricolour initiative from NIT Srinagar besides statement of Prime Minister on the issue. Harpreet Singh, Vishal Arya, Shadi Lal Sharma, Jagjeet Singh, Anita Gupta, D.L Radha, Sanjay Sharma, Gagandeep and Ankit Sharma were also present.
