KATRA: The Government Railway Police (GRP) Katra in a case of recovering a bag with a cash of Rs 33,400 with other articles and restoring it to its owner, has exhibited professionalism and honesty.
According to SSP Katra during routine checking the police party of GRP found one bag containing Rs 33,400 and other articles in the train (Jammu Mail) left behind by some passenger. The GRP under the directions of SSP Railways Katra Ranjit Singh made strenuous efforts by way of flashing messages to GRP Jammu and other territorial police stations to find out owner of this bag.
Owner of the bag Mehr Bannli son of Ahmed Hussain resident of Muzaffar Nagar, at present Transport Yard No 4, Narwal Jammu who had already reported loss of this bag to GRP Jammu, approached GRP Katra. After verification and ascertaining that the claimant was the real owner of the bag, the bag and the cash with other articles was handed over to him.
H/C Raman Kumar and Const Mohd Sadeeq who detected the bag in the train were rewarded by the SSP Railway Katra for the act of honesty and exemplary service.
