HIRANAGAR: Police on Tuesday arrested two narcotic smugglers and recovered 500 grams heroin from their possession.
According to a report, a police party from Police Station Hiranagar while on routine checking of all types of vehicle intercepted one motorcycle bearing registration No.JK02BM/7880 coming from Jammu towards Punjab. On sensing trouble, rider tried to escape after breaking the Naka but alert cops overpowered the riders. During the questioning they disclosed their identity as Navjot Singh son of Amar Singh and Swaran Singh son of Sukhwant Singh both resident of Indra Nagar Miransahib. During personal checking, one packet was recovered weighing 500 gms (1/2kg) narcotic substance in it. It has been established that both the riders are heroin smuggler and are active since long. As per their version this was their third consignment of contraband narcotic (heroin)being delivered to Punjab (Amritsar) from Jammu based smugglers.
