NAGROTA: An impressive Passing out Parade of 25 newly recruited Excise Sub Inspectors was held here at Excise and Taxation Training Institute on 5th March 2016.
Navin Kumar Choudhary, Commissioner/Secretary to Government, Finance Department was the Chief Guest. T. Angchuk, Excise Commissioner, J and K, Hilal Ahmed Parray, Commissioner, Commercial Taxes, J and K, and other senior officers of the Excise and Commercial Taxes Departments were also present during 2nd Passing out Parade of 25 Excise Sub Inspectors, after completing 40 days Foundation Course.
Navin Kumar Choudhary hoisted the National flag, took the salute and inspected the parade contingent. Later, a full dress march-past was presented by the pass outs to the Chief Guest. Chandni, Excise Sub Inspector was parade commander who was later given away the Best Trainee Award by the Chief Guest.
T. Angchuk delivered the welcome address and highlighted the achievements of the Department. He mentioned that during the last eleven months of current financial year the Department realised total revenue of Rs. 1048.03 crore against Rs. 899.86 crore of the previous financial year with an increase of Rs. 148.17 crore. He mentioned that the department has recorded a consistent growth of 16 per cent during the current fiscal against 1.85 per cent of the last year. He appreciated efforts made by all the three wings of the department for doing exceedingly well in all spheres especially revenue realisation. Special reference was made of Distilleries wing and the Toll wing of the Department who have shown a good growth in revenue despite all odds. He appreciated the efforts made by Mohammed Shahid Saleem, Deputy Excise Commissioner (Executive), holding additional charge of the Principal, Excise and Taxation Training Institute, Nagrota, for shaping the Institute on professional lines. It is only because of his efforts that for the first time two batches of Excise Sub inspectors have been imparted rigorous training in the Institute and have passed out.
Navin Kumar Choudhary congratulated the pass outs on their successful completion of the foundation training course and exhorted them to work for betterment of the Excise administration.
He announced a cash prize of Rs. 50,000 for the Trainer and best trainee besides rupees one lakh for the field functionaries who will perform exceedingly well in all spheres of Excise administration.
He also announced establishment of a full-fledged Heath Club/ Gym for the Excise Staff at the Excise and Taxation Training Institute, Nagrota. He assured full budgetary support for overall augmentation of the Institute.
At the end, the pass outs presented a concluding parade with slogans in favour of the Chief Guest which ended with the releasing of balloons. Mohammed Shahid Saleem conducted the proceedings of the function.
