RAJOURI: In order to curb the menace of illegal distillation and sale of illicit liquor, the sleuths of Excise Range Rajouri, led by Mohd Pervaiz Inspector Excise, under the supervision of Sheraz Ahmed Chauhan, Excise and Taxa-tion Officer, Rajouri – Poonch conducted series of raids at village Panj Peer, Chingus,, Dhabbar, Pahta, Lam, Sasal-kote, Sawni, Doongi, Agrati, Narrian, Sangpur, Bal, Chingus, of Rajouri District. These raids were conducted under the supervision and direction of T. Angchuk Excise Comm-issioner, J and K Government and Nagindera Singh Jam-wal, Deputy Excise Commi-ssioner, (Executive), Jammu. During the course of raids three persons were arrested and booked under Excise Act. The arrested persons were identified as Ratin Singh son of Jagat Ram resident of Agrati, Kamlish Devi wife of Late Krishan Lal resident of Sasalkote and Koushal Devi wife of late Babu Ram resident of Sasalkote Agrati. During the course of raids 540 Kg of Lahan, 50 Ltrs. of illicit liquor and one working still were also destroyed on the spot.
The Excise Department has tightened its noose agai-nst those who are involved in the illicit distillation of liquor and sale thereof.
