JAMMU/SRINAGAR: Police on Saturday arrested four drug peddlers and recovered 1,645 grams of Charas in two separate incidents.
Under Operation Sanjeevni, SHO Police Station Trikuta Nagar, Inspector Kuldeep Khajuria and In-charge Police Post Narwal, Mahmood Khan intercepted a pedestrian at Narwal Mandi. During questioning he disclosed his name Zakir Hussain, son of Muzffar Hussian, resident of Satri Maidan Gopal Pura Kalan Martand, Anantnag. During search of his belongings, police recovered 645 grams of Charas from his possession.
In this regard, a case FIR No 77/2016 under Section 8/20 NDPS Act was registered at Police Station Trikuta Nagar and investigation started.
The arrest was made under the close supervision of SDPO East, Chandan Kohli and SP South Shazad Salaria.
Similarly, on a tip off, a police party of Police Station Awantipora headed by SHO Police Station Awantipora intercepted a Bolero vehicle bearing registration number JK01X-5510 at Awantipora. On its checking police recovered 1 Kilogram of Charas. Three people boarding the vehicle identified as Aadil Ahmad Wani, Mohammad Dilawar Wani and Ubaid Ahmad Bhat have been arrested.
A case FIR number 55/2016 under section 8/20 Act has been registered in this regard and further investigation is going on.
