RAJOURI: Dr. Prabhu Kumar, Zonal Project Director, Zone-I, ICAR visited Krishi Vigyan Kendra-Rajouri and Poonch, for assessing functioning of KVKs and also for assessment of losses incurred to the KVK property due to incessant rains and floods. He was accompanied by Dr. K.S Risam, Director Extension, SKUAST-Jammu and Dr. Ajmer Singh, Senior Scientist of ZPD- Ludhiana. Dr. P Kumar is on tour of the Jammu Division to assess the losses caused to the KVKs functioning under jurisdiction of SKUAST-Jammu.
The team took stock of the losses incurred to the property of KVKs and prepared a detailed report of the losses. He advised the Programme Coordinator to submit a detailed report of the losses incurred to the property so that the same may be submitted to the higher authorities for its consideration.
Interacting with the scientists of KVK, Rajouri, Dr. Prabhu Kumar applauded the efforts being made by the KVK team and advised them to put more efforts to bring latest scientific technologies at the door step of farmers of the district. He also stressed to issue proper advisories for flood affected farmers and advised KVK to be prepared for coming Rabi season so as to have healthy crops.
Dr. K.S Risam , Director Extension , assured Zonal Director of efficient functioning of KVKs so as to provide best service to the farming community of these hilly districts.
Meanwhile Dr. S. Prabhu Kumar also visited Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Kathua. Dr. Kumar was also accompanied by Dr. Ajmer Singh, Senior Scientist, Zonal Project Directorate. On their arrival, all the scientific and supporting staff of Krishi Vigyan Kendra welcomed Dr. Kumar. At the outset, Programme Coordinator, Dr. Amrish Vaid appraised Dr. Kumar about the progress made by KVK, Kathua while performing the mandated activities viz., farmers trainings, trainings for rural youth for income generation, trainings to the field functionaries, frontline demonstrations on latest agri-technologies etc.
