Lok Sabha election for Ladakh again showed of polarity in Ladakh between Leh and Kargil. Even after NC-Congress alliance devoting Ladakh for Congress, there were dissents among Congress rank resulting in fielding independent candidates from Kargil. BJP had many star campaigners in Leh as well as Kargil. BJP got advantage and thus won the seat by mere 36 votes. The rout of NC-Congress could be attributed to the national saffron wave even the Central Government was hammered by this wave. This was particularly because the Centre was unable to wash the stains of corruption and price rise. Even though there is only one parliamentary seat for both Leh and Kargil, people of Leh have notion that a Buddhist leader will pull funds to Leh while people of Kargil have the notion it is best to have a Muslim leader. This wresting match seems to have become a norm and happened in past too.
