World AIDS Day celebrated across region

KIHSTWAR: Govt. Degree College Kishtwar in collaboration with Red Ribbon Club organised an awareness programme to celebrate World Aids Day. On the occasion a symposium was held in the college which was presided over by Prof. (Dr.) Aftab Ahmed Khan, Principal of the College.
Dr. Ashiq Hussain, Convenor Cultural Activities of the College said that the day is for taking stock of the challenges that humanity is facing because of HIV/AIDS, and for celebrating our successes in supporting the people affected by the pandemic.
In symposium Nitika Sharma, Pooja Kiran and Misbah Tabassum were adjudged first, second and third respectively. Prof. M. M Matoo, Prof. Faisal Mushtaq and Prof. Yaseen Sirwal acted as jury in the symposium. Later on a rally was organised in which around 150 students of the college took part.
In his presidential address Dr. Aftab Ahmed Khan Principal of the College also spoke on the occasion. The vote of thanks was presented by Asstt. Prof. Pooja Sharma.
BUDHAL : Govt. Degree College Budhal observed AIDS Day by organising a guest lecture on AIDS which was delivered by Abdul Lateef Dar Community Health Officer(CHO) Budhal.
Principal of the College Dr. Shakeel Ahmad Raina also threw light on the importance of the day AIDS Day at GDC Akhnoor
AKHNOOR : GDC Akhnoor organised a Poster cum Slogan writing competition in the college on AIDS Day in which 50 students participated. Later on a rally was organised which was flagged off by Principal Dr. Asha Gupta.
Ranjana Kumari, Ramni Sharma and Neha Manhas got first, second , third position in poster making. Arti Devi, Akhilesh Lata and Kritika got first ,second , third position in slogan writing. Prof. Tarsem, Prof. Raj Kumar and Prof. Anshu adjudged the event. The whole event was organised by Red Ribbon Club of College in collaboration with NSS unit of the College under the supervision of Prof Rewa Lakhotra and Prof. D.N Sharma.
KATHUA: Nehru Yuva Kendra, Kathua observed World Aids Awareness Day at Mandya, Kathua in view of the global campaign against AIDS. The programme was attended by youth hailing from border areas. The participants were educated about various aspects of AIDS and preventive measures.
On the occasion, Dwarka Nath, Community Health Officer apprised the public about the widespread impact of AIDS around the world that is affecting mankind. He also informed the youth about the preventive measures of Aids.
Som Datt Zard, District Youth Coordinator, NYK Kathua, impressed upon the parents to come forward and educate youth about this fatal disease. Collective efforts are needed to check and weed out AIDS from the society, he added.
BANI: The NSS Unit and Red Ribbon Club of GDC Bani organized one day seminar on AIDS awareness. In his introductory remarks, Principal of the College, Dr. Naresh Kumar Gupta dealt at length about the role of educational institutions in bringing about awareness regarding this terminal disease and stressed upon the need to organize such programmes. Dr. Liaqat Ali, BMO Sub District Hospital Bani and key resource person threw considerable light on the origin, causes of proliferation and measures to prevent the dreaded disease. The Chief Guest gave away the prizes to the winners. Sushma Devi of Part-II got the first prize whereas Parveen Kumar of Part-I and Pooja Devi of Part-I got second and third prize respectively. The programme was conducted by NSS Programme Officer Prof. Shambu Dutt and vote of thanks was presented by Prof Sushma Kumari. Des Raj, Lecturer, GHSS Bani, Mohd. Iqbal Sheikh, Lecturer, GHSS Bani, Moti Ram, Sarpanch Kanthal and Hafiz and other staff members were also present on the occasion.
DODA: To commemorate the World AIDS Day celebrations, the Red Ribbon Club of Government Degree College Doda on Monday organised a Symposium cum Pooster Making Competition in the college premises.
Commanding Officer (CO) 10RR Col Sunil Mishra was the Chief Guest while 2IC 10RR Kailash Jha was the Guest of Honour besides Principal GDC Doda Prof Zaheer Abass Hashmi and Resource Person Senior Pathologist Dr Anayat Lone were the Special Guests on the occasion. The work of Stage Secretary was carried out by Prof Neelam Sabha Balwan.
In the poster competition, Manisha Katoch, Mujeeb Indrabi and Sumaya Tak stood first second and third position respectively whereas Saima Batool, Rohi Jan Dev, Mussarat Batt and Jaffer Hussain were also awarded with consolation prizes by the guests.
RS PURA: Range Police Headquarters Jammu in collaboration with Blossom High School R.S Pura organised a massive Anti-AIDs rally on the occasion of World AIDS Day.
Shakeel A. Beig, Deputy Inspector General of Police, flagged of the rally. DIG Jammu said that world AIDS Day is held every year on 1st December since 1988 and is an opportunity for people throughout the world to unite in the fight against HIV and to show their support for the people living with HIV and to commemorate people who have died.
DIG Jammu was accompanied by Randheer Singh, SP Hqrs., Davinder Singh SDPO R S Pura and others.
Dinesh Sharma, Principal Blossom High School thanked the Chief Guest and other guests for sparing time for this noble cause.
UDHAMPUR: In order to celebrate world HIV/AIDS Day, ITBP unit organised an awareness cum blood donation camp in the premises in which all rank officers and jawans of ITBP donated blood. It was informed that day long blood camp was organised under the supervision of MS District Hospital Dr. Chander Parkash.
BHALWAL: H. P Public School organised AIDS awareness programme, commemorating World AIDS Day. On this occasion, staff and students of the school visited the Bhalwal Village in the vicinity and interacted with the dwellers residing there. They emphasised the need to spread the awareness regarding the dreaded disease and the ways and means by which we could protect ourselves. Anuradha Rajput, Principal of the School flagged off a rally which passed through the Bhalwal Village spreading the message about the disease.
