KATRA: Police on Sunday arrested three bootleggers including a woman and recovered 102 pouches of liquor from their possession.
According to a report, a police team headed by Inspector Sanjeev Sharma, SHO Police Station Katra, acting on a specific input, laid a Naka at Asia Chowk Katra and during checking, police succeeded in recovery of 102 pouches of J and K Excise Liquor from the possession of Satish Kumar son of Som Nath resident of Raipur Satwari Jammu and lady namely Kirandeep wife of Gurpreet resident of Model Town Jalandhar Punjab. Both the accused have been arrested and the vehicle Maruti-800 bearing registration No.1027/JK02L which was used for transportation of illicit liquor was seized.
A case vide FIR No. 44/2016 under section 48-A Act, 188/RPC was registered at Police Station Katra.
Meanwhile, a police party led by SHO Police Station Banihal Inspector Nazir Ahmed Dar apprehended one person for smuggling liquor.
The accused has been identified as Mohd Ayoub Wagay son of Ahmedullah Wagay resident of Nogam Tehsil Banihal District Ramban and was booked under FIR No. 32/2016 section 48 (F) Excise Act at Police Station Banihal.
