Viraj Kala Kendra organises painting competition

JAMMU: Viraj Kala Kendra (regd.), Gandhi Nagar, Jammu organized painting competition on Wednesday in connection with the weeklong celebrations of birth anniversary of late Vidya Ratan Khajuria, an eminent sculptor, artist and a writer of J and K State. Children of various schools participated in the competition.
Additional Deputy Commissioner, Jammu, G.M Balwan was the Chief Guest while SDM, Jammu South, Shahid Mohmad Dar was the Guest of Honour on the occasion. General Secretary, Retired Officers’ Forum, S C Rekhi was the Special Guest and State Commissioner, J and K State of BS and G, I.D Soni presided over the function.
President, Viraj Kala Kendra, Jammu, Raj Bharti, in her welcome address, highlighted the activities and contribution of the Kendra.
Viraj Kala Kendra is a premier organization working for the promotion of art and culture for last many years and engaged in multifarious social causes and empowerment of women, she said
Former Chairperson, Viraj Kala Kendra, Rita Jatindra said that Vidya Ratan has contributed a lot for the cause of art in the State and the country and Raj Bharti has devoted her life to raise the Kendra to the heights by working in the memory of Khajuria.
Balwan appreciated the efforts being made by the Kendra for the promotion of art and culture. He said that his department will be on the side of Raj Bharti in respect of promotion of art and culture in the State. Prizes were given away to the winners of the competitions.
More than one hundred students of various schools participated in this competition in three catagories. The competition was specially designed for the left-handed participants. A seminar was also conducted on the theme of famous people who were lefties in the field of art and culture; Science and Technology and History and Mythology and these themes were discussed in detail by Jang S. Verman, S.C Rekhi and I.D Soni respectively. Students viz. Muskan Kaur, Parneet Kaur, Shivang Gupta, Anmolik of Shiksha Niketan School also spoke in this seminar.
The jury members were Rohit Verma, Reecha Gupta and Ankush Bhushan. The programme was conducted by Susham, General Secretary of Viraj Kala Kendra.

14-16 yrs: Himanshu Dogra Siksha Niketan Hr. Sec. School1st; Sonam KV 2, Jammu 2nd ; Naina Charak Siksha Niketan Hr. Sec. School, Jammu 3rd.
