Various delegations call on LG Mathur

LEH: Various delegations on Monday called on Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, R K Mathur here, who put forth concerns and requests pertaining the development, employment, COVID situation etc.
A team led by Zakir Hussain, Block Development Council Chairman, Sodh Block, Kargil in a memorandum submitted for LG Mathur’s perusal, requested for sub-divisional status for Sodh Block, a long pending demand.
Mathur was also apprised of irrigation difficulties in the area due to lack of any reliable irrigation channel which has led to a drought-like situation.
Therefore, he requested his intervention in completion of the languishing lift-irrigation project due to lack of funds and also appealed for a special package for the block for drought relief.
Tsering Phuntsog, Convenor, Aam Aadmi Party UT Ladakh appealed LG Mathur for Constitutional safeguards for Ladakh under the Sixth Schedule of the Constitution of India. He also discussed concerns regarding incorrect issuance of Domicile Certificate which was being presented for admission in Jammu Cluster University. Requests pertaining development, employment and assistance to local entrepreneurs in processing, packaging and marketing of local products and recommendation of two parliamentary seats, one each for Leh and Kargil was also put forth before the LG.
Later, a team led by Padma Dorje, Nominated Councillor for Minorities, LAHDC Kargil put forth concerns regarding District Service Selection Recruitment Board (DSSRB) recruitments in Kargil and requested for a free and fair enquiry into the matter.
Other requests pertaining development of Shargol and Shakar regions of Chiktan Sub-Division were creation of common Service Recruitment Board for UT Ladakh replacing the existing DSSRB, an alternate Airport in Kargil, formation of a separate Tourism Development Authority for Shargole and Shakar and construction of tunnels at Namkila and Fotola passes.
LG Mathur gave patient hearing to all the above requests and assured to take up the issues.
