This refers to the article “Uttarakhand: Massacre of constitution” (April 4)by Bhim Singh published in your newespaper. Uttarakhand unfortunately faces a new phase of political uncertainty. It is not only the BJP or the Congress is responsible for this mess. This kind of problem is more common in smaller states like Uttarakhand, Arunachal Pradesh or Kerala. Here few MLAs can change the fate of the government. People of Uttarakhand must understand that the insurgent group headed by Vijay Bahuguna is a close intimate of the Gandhi family, the former Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, and a man with a clean reputation. People who are seemingly in the Harish Rawat camp have expressed disappointment over his style of functioning. There is perhaps a feeling that an absolute-majority government at the Union level can attempt to weaken the very constitutional base it stands on.
