Implementation of Uniform Civil Code will bring uniformity in laws like marriage, divorce, property, inheritance etc. Like now criminal laws apply equally to everyone without any discrimination of religion, gender or region.
There are two types of codes in the country, one is the Criminal Code which is known in common language as IPC, while on the other hand there are personal laws, which are called Personal Law. Personal Law mainly includes Hindu Marriage Act, Anand Karaj Act, Muslim Law, Personal Law regulates activities like marriage, divorce, inheritance, adoption, guardianship, etc. These apply differently to everyone according to their religion. Now, after the implementation of the Uniform Civil Code, there will be uniformity in the personal laws of all religions. That is, inequality on religious basis in marriage, divorce, inheritance, adoption, property rights will be removed.
