KATRA: Police on Saturday arrested two drug peddlers and recovered 1,500 gm poppy straw from their possession.
According to a report, a team of police personnel headed by Dr. Ashok Sharma, SDPO Katra under the direct supervision of Sumir Kotwal, Addl. SP Katra and Sujit Kumar, SSP Reasi intercepted two persons namely Rahul Sharma son of Ravinder Kumar resident of W.No.4 Main Bazar Katra District Reasi and Sher Mohd son of Abdul resident of Sandrote Tehsil Dansal District Jammu who were on way to Katra from Jammu in the vehicle Bolero bearing registration No.JK20 3030.
During checking at Asia Chowk Katra and police recovered 800 gms poppy straw from the possession of Rahul Sharma and 700 gms from the possession of Sher Mohd making in all 1Kg 500 gms poppy straw.
The accused persons have been arrested and recovered poppy straw (Bhuki) has been seized. The vehicle which was used for transportation of the drugs has also been seized. A case under FIR No. 78/2015 section 8/20 NDPS Act was registered at Police Station Katra and investigation of the case is in progress.
