Two held with illicit liquor in Reasi

REASI: Police arrested two bootleggers at separate places and recovered 92 pouches and five bottles of illicit liquor here on Saturday.
According to report, a police team headed by Inspector Kuldeep Krishan, SHO Police Station Katra acting on a specific input, laid a special Naka at Asia Chowk Katra and during checking tried to intercepta Van (4696/JK02K). On seeing the Naka, the driver made an attempt to escape but was overpowered. On checking, the police recovered 72 Poly Pouches measuring 250/250 ml each of J&K excise liquor from his possession. He has been identified as Madan Lal, son of Ambu Ram,resident of Jadd Tehsil Akhnoor District Jammu. The accused person has been arrested and the consignment and the van have been seized.
In this connection, a case FIR No. 14/2016 under Sections 48-A of Excise Act and 188 RPC stands registered at Police Station Katra and investigation of the case is in progress. The operation was held under the supervision of Dr. Ashok Sharma, SDPO Katra, Sumir Kotwal, Additional SP Katra and overall supervision of Sujit Kumar, SSP Reasi.
Meanwhile, a police team headed by Inspector Romal Singh, SHO Police Station Reasi under the supervision of Sanjay Singh Rana, Additional SP Reasi and overall supervision of Sujit Kumar, SSP Reasi, acting on a specific input, succeeded in the recovery of 20 Poly Pouches (10 measuring 375/375 ml each and 10 measuring 250/250 ml each) of J&K excise liquor and five bottles of liquor measuring 750/750 ml each from the possession of Kalu Mohd, son of Lal Din resdent of Devi Garh Tehsil Bhomag District Reasi at Bus Stand Reasi. The accused person has been arrested and recovered poly pouches of liquor have also been seized.
In this connection, a case FIR No. 13/2016 under Section 48-A of Excise Act, stands registered at Police Station Reasi and investigation of the case is in progress.
