Tribal raiders responsible for killing of thousands in 1947: Narinder

JAMMU: The State BJP salutes the people who laid down their lives in 1947 while resisting and fighting Pak sent tribal raiders into J and K. The BJP is going to mark these sacrifices by holding various programmes at various levels.
This was stated by BJP State General Secretary Dr. Narinder Singh while addressing media persons at party office along with State Spokesperson Brig. Anil Gupta and Balbir Ram Rattan and BJP Sharnarthi Cell State Convenor Pt. Ashok Kumar Khajuria.
Narinder elaborated that as a first reaction to this attack, thousands of Hindus and Sikhs got dislodged from their houses and lost their properties to arson at the hands of these Pak controlled and commanded tribal raiders who also looted the local residents and killed mercilessly in cold blood many of them. With only a handful of soldiers under the command of Brig. Rajinder Singh the raiders were resisted ferociously along the Muzaffarabad-Uri-Srinagar route and were ultimately martyred and delayed their advance and thus prevented fall of Sriangar, he said.
After the arrival of the Indian Army on 27th October, 1947 with the signing of the Instrument of Accession by Maharaja Hari Singh acceding the State with Union of India, the dark period for the State came to an end, he disclosed.
Dr. Singh also said that the BJP has been expressing its concern over the sufferings of PoJK displaced people who are living under sub human conditions in refugee camps since 1947 as if in exile in their own State.
Brig. Anil announced that the Department of Policy Research of State BJP will organise a seminar on Accession Day titled ‘Accession of J&K to India is full and final’ and a battery of intellectuals would address different session.
Balbir Ram Rattan informed that the party will organise programmes on 27th October and 3rd November in memories of Brig. Rajinder Singh and Major Somnath Sharma respectively, wherein tributes will be paid to them and programmes at district and Mandal levels will be organised.
Similarly, Pt. Ashok Kumar Khajuria stressed upon the State Government to expedite the process of distribution of Rs. 2,000 crore package to the PoJK displaced families.
