Training programme on techniques for nursery raising of vegetables held

JAMMU: Division of Vegetable Science and Floriculture, SKUAST-Jammu, Chatha organised a training programme on ‘Innovative Techniques for Nursery Raising of vegetables under Protected Structures’ in the project commercial production of vegetable seedlings for livelihood security: an entrepreneurship venture funded by NABARD under FSPF scheme at Bisnah.
In the training programme, about 50 farmers were demonstrated the various techniques involved in the production of quality planting material of vegetables under protected structures.
Dr R.K Gupta, Professor and Head gave introductory lecture on role of quality planting material and its production in vegetables.
Dr. Manoj Kumar, Principal Investigator of the project along with Dr Sanjeev Kumar apprised the farmers about various innovations made in the field of nursery production viz.a viz. soil less production techniques for nursery production under protected structures.
Dr. Sandeep Chopra and Dr. Satish Kumar stressed the farmers about various weed management strategies and production of seedlings of cucurbitaceous vegetables in polbags under protected structures.
Vote of thanks was presented by Natha Ram, progressive farmer of the village.
