Three tourist circuits on anvil
SRINAGAR : Minister for Tourism Ghulam Ahmad Mir on Thursday informed the Legislative Assembly that the government has taken several initiatives to explore the tourism potential besides upgradation of infrastructure facilities at tourism spots in the State.
Replying to the supplementaris raised by some members to the main question by Advocate Abdul Haq, the minister said that 22 Development Authorities have been set up in the State, with the purpose to boost tourism in every potential area.
The minister said that Lolab-Bangus-Drangyari Development Authority has been set up under which tourist infrastructure worth crore of rupees has been completed besides focused attention was given to potential spots in the area. He said that development of Bangus valley was the ultimate target of the government as the Valley possesses huge tourism potential.
The Tourism Minister said that three Mega Tourism projects worth Rs 50 crore each have been already submitted to the Centre for funding which include creation of Sufi circuit in Kashmir, pilgrim circuit in Jammu and Budhist circuit in Ladakh. He said these circuits would benefit almost all potential areas of these regions. He said the government is seriously thinking of developing Tosamaidan which also has huge potential.
Legislators, Nasir Aslam Wani, Er Abdul Rashid, Javed Ahmad Dar, Syed Bashir Ahmad and Hakeem Mohammad Yaseen raised supplementaries to the main question.
