JAMMU: Public Relations Society of India (PRSI), Jammu, commemorated National PR Day on Saturday by organizing an enriching virtual panel discussion on the theme ‘G20 and Indian Values: Public Relations Perspectives’, in consonance with India’s G20 Presidency.
The illustrious panel had Dr Rashmi Singh, Commissioner, State Taxes Department, J&K and Dr Radhe Krishan, Deputy Director (PR), Bureau of Indian Standards, GoI, as resource persons.
“Public Relations and communication professionals of India celebrate this Day to commit ourselves to give our best to the profession and upgrade the quality of our services to build new India. The world is looking at India to find solutions to all its challenges as we assure the world that both progress and nature can go together respecting the traditions and values imbibed in Indian culture,” Dr. Ajit Pathak, National President, PRSI.
In his address on the National PR Day, Dr. Ajit added that the theme of National PR Day is close to every Indian heart and offers a sense of pride. The symbol of the lotus in the G20 logo represents hope in these challenging times and PR practitioners of India by using 360 degree communication tools can show-case India in its right perspective as a prelude to make India a developed country by 2047.
Post the launch of PRSI Jammu Chapter recently, this was the first online discussion organized under the guidance of Prof. Anil Saumitra, Chairperson PRSI, J&K Chapter, Regional Director, IIMC Jammu.
The event was attended by PR and Communication professionals, media educators and students from across the country. Prominent among those who presided over the online discussion included Dr. Mahesh Kaul, Post Doctoral Fellow, ICPR, New Delhi, Dr. Archana Kumari, Associate Professor, JNU and Secretary PRSI Jammu; Dr Monisa Qadri from Islamic University of Science and Technology, Awantipora, Joint Secretary PRSI Jammu; Dr Pardeep Singh Bali, Asst. Professor, Department of Journalism and Media Studies, University of Jammu, Treasurer, PRSI Jammu; Dr Ravia Gupta, Asst. Professor, Department of Journalism and Media Studies, University of Jammu and Executive member PRSI Jammu; Ms Harry Walia, Journalist, Media Professional, and Member, PRSI Jammu; Inderjeet Singh, Journalist and lifetime member PRSI Jammu.
First keynote speaker of the day, Dr Rashmi Singh congratulated the PRSI, Jammu team for conducting an eminent panel discussion, which reflected the Chapter’s commitment and dedication towards its goals. She said, “The theme of National PR Day 2023 resonates with the watershed moment of Indian history, that is, G20 Presidency, and also the core of Indian democracy, that is, her values. Drawing from this very core, India’s G20 Presidency manifests the true spirit. We have successfully created a system for growth and development while protecting the Indian essence in all the endeavours.”
Public participation, engagement, and feedback have always been critical to our society. With the Government taking a slew of initiatives, and the commencement of our G20 Presidency, Public Relations Professionals can ensure everybody is seen, heard, and valued at a global platform,” she added.
Keynote speaker, Dr Radhe Krishan highlighted the importance of communication and its role in shaping the world. According to him, “Effective communication, with Public Relations integral to it, has the power to even bring the nations together, solve world problems, and make life better for all.”
The Indian Culture encourages the same, he asserted by adding that G20 Presidency is an opportunity not only for India, the host, but for the global community to invest in improving the communications and pave way for peace and prosperity.
He further added that India’s systematic approach and mindful leadership in the international forums including G20, are some the reasons why the world must take India seriously. Earlier, Harry Walia, Journalist, Media Professional, and Member, PRSI Jammu formally welcomed the guests. Dr. Pardeep Singh Bali introduced the guests, along with Ambika Rashmi, student wing member of PRSI Jammu. Dr. Monisa Qadri from Islamic University of Science and Technology, Awantipora, Joint Secretary PRSI Jammu Chapter, presented the formal vote of thanks.
Dr. Ravia Gupta, Asst Prof, Dept of Journalism and Media Studies, University of Jammu, Executive Member, PRSI Jammu Chapter moderated the session that ended with a round of questions and answers.
