JAMMU: Police had a tough Sunday morning when an alert was sounded on a specific call that four Sumo borne ‘militants’ were approaching towards Jammu from Mansar area of Samba district.
Responding to the alert, all the routes were kept under vigil with side lanes plugged in to avert any nefarious plot of the Pak sponsored terror outfits.
The suspected ‘Sumo’ was intercepted near Nagrota at around 10:00 AM and the police put the occupants to sustained questioned. After detailed inquiries, they turned out to be Mata Vaishno Devi devotees.
Jammu-Kathua Range DIG Shakeel Beigh said, “We had sounded an alert soon after the inputs were received. As a standard drill, all the Nakas were strengthened and additional forces deployed in the suspected areas.”
After two hours of exercise the police ultimately detected the Sumo near Nagrota. During detailed questioning and frisking the youth were found to be the Delhi based devotees of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi.
Sources said that locals became suspicious about the Sumo when they found it near Mansar during wee hours. They sounded the police about mysterious movement in the area.
The informers also gave brief description of the youth boarding the Sumo. Moreover, similar incidents had taken place when Pak sponsored militants had hijacked the vehicles to strike at vital installations in border districts of Kathua and Samba.
