Babur in his autobiography ‘Baburnama’ talks about the riches of India. Today, the public is ruled by crorepati MPs and MLAs. Our temples are overflowing with tons of gold and silver and crores of rupees (29 Himachal temples have gold, silver worth
Rs 178 crore). Padmanabha Swami Temple at Thiruvanathapuram holds riches worth Rs 2,000 crore, the assets of Tirumala Vankteshwara Temple of Tirupati are worth Rs 650 crore and Shirdi Sai Baba Temple Rs 32 crore. There are countless other temples overflowing with riches and properties. Some recent incidents have exposed vast empires of Deras and Babas.
Money with these institutions is either not utilised or misused. The riches blocked in them should be diverted towards making India a better country.
