Teli assails PDP-BJP for delaying constitution of OBC Advisory Council

JAMMU: Seeking immediate functioning of the State Advisory Board for weaker sections in order to mitigating their long pending demands and assuaging their aspirations, National Conference OBC Cell on Monday lambasted PDP-BJP dispensation for delaying the constitution of the Advisory Council, saying if this could not be done in three years how can the issues pertaining to backward communities would be resolved.
The OBC Cell also expressed grave concern over the lackadaisical approach of the present dispensation towards weaker sections and said that it is anti-poor and anti-weaker sections of the society.
Addressing the functionaries of the Cell at Sher-e-Kashmir Bhavan here, the Co- Chairman Abdul Gani Teli said that the other backward communities have been ignored by the insensitive Coalition Government, as a result of which their problems are increasing manifold with each passing day.
Teli regretted that the insensitive PDP-BJP combine has betrayed the people and exhorted the workers to generate awareness among people about the lackadaisical attitude of the Coalition Government.
He said the demand for increasing the income slab with regard to eligibility of the OBCs is still pending and the government was not taking any decision in this regard.
Teli also sought appointment of a Chairman of the Board from among the OBCs, who, he said can well appreciate their problems.
The Co-Chairman also expressed grave concern over erratic power and drinking water supply and said there is shortage of essential commodities like rice, wheat, kerosene oil, LPG, sugar, which has hit hard the poor people. He said the PDP led Coalition Government has failed on all fronts, as it is not even able to cater the basic needs of people.
Present on the occasion were Ghulam Rasool, Sadiq Hussain, Sai Dass, Dharam Pal Kataria, Kuldeep Raj Verma, District President, Subash Mehra, Madan Lal, District President Rajouri Rural, Omkar Nath, Sudesh Kumar Verma, Nazir Hussain, Jagtar Ram, Supuran Singh, Prem Chand, Joginder Lal, Maseema Akhtar, Asha Mehra and Ayub Bhat.
