Take care of health care

0 48

Dear Editor,
India’s healthcare system is chaotic. The policymakers have failed to fulfill the demands of people, including providing qualified doctors and eliminating quackery. Agencies such as medical councils, Health Department and Pollution Control Board and law-enforcing bodies have failed to curb quackery as it is openly practised in the country. Quacks are doing more harm to the health of people in the absence of qualified doctors, but no professional association or agency is coming forward to document the harm done by the quacks because of petty vote politics. Only a radical reform, including a health budget increase to 3-5 per cent of GDP, can strengthen the public healthcare system.
