Taj inaugurates CT scan facility at Kulgam
KULGAM: Minister for Health and Medical Education, Taj Mohi-ud-Din on Tuesday visited the South Kashmir districts of Kulgam and Shopian to assess, on the spot, the extent of damage suffered to health infrastructure and also to review the functioning of health institutions in these areas after recent floods.
At Kulgam District Hospital, the minister inaugurated the CT scan facility for which the patients had to travel to distant places. With this inauguration, the patients of the district would be getting the CT scanning done at their doorstep only.
MLA, Kulgam, M.Y Tarigami and officers of district administration were present on the occasion. Taj, on the occasion, also reviewed the functioning of the hospital.
Earlier, the minister visited Shopian and took stock of the functioning of District Hospital there. He impressed upon the Hospital management to optimally utilise the facilities available at the hospital to the best advantage of people of adjoining areas so that they don’t have to travel long distances for the same.
Taj appreciated the role played by peripheral health institutions, mostly district hospitals, during recent floods when most of the tertiary care institutions were inundated. He complimented the doctors and paramedics of these hospitals for having catered to the rush of the patients and attending on the critically ill, thus minimising the referrals.
Enroute, the minister also inspected Trauma hospital at Qazigund and reviewed its functioning. He also visited Vessu and inspected the premises of the local health centre.
