Swachh Pakhwara: SAI holds essay writing competition

JAMMU: As a part of two-week long Swachh Pakhwara-a project of Union Ministry of Youth Services and Sports launched countrywide, the Jammu based Centre of Sports Authority of India (SAI) on Tuesday organised essay writing competition for the players at Maulana Azad Stadium here.
More than 100 players from different disciplines participated in the competition under the title, ‘How can we keep India clean?’
“This is a two-week long programme during which various events including essay writing competition, cleanliness drive, plantation drive and anti-polythene drive will be organised,” an official here said.
He said that in the coming days, Swachhta Drive will be organised in one of the schools of the city while cleanliness drive will also be organised in the stadium and the park.
Three players including two from basketball discipline namely Priyanshu Thakur and Aman ul Hassan,one from handball namely Arjun Kumar won prizes in essay writing competition. International fencer Rachna Jamwal was the Chief Guest on the occasion who distributed mementoes among the winning participants. Incharge SAI Jammu Centre Varinder Sharma, Senior Coaches Aman Sharma, Sat Pal Sharma, Gurmeet Kour, Narinder Kour and Kalyani Dwivedi were also present.
