Swachch Baharat Mission launched in Baramulla

BARAMULLA: A massive sanitation drive under Swachch Bharat Mission was launched by the District Administration Baramulla on Friday. Additional District Development Commissioner Baramulla Ravindra Kumar Bhat, who is also the Administrator Municipal Council Baramulla, flagged off the drive from Municipal Council Office Baramulla to Sangrama. The Karamcharis of Municipal Council Baramulla, Sopore, Uri, Pattan, Kunzer, Tangmarg and Watergam took part in the first phase of sweeping campaign while cleaning the roads, lanes and dranes and other surroundings.
Speaking on the occasion, Additional District Development Commissioner said that the drive has been started from Baramulla which will be continued and during which Sopore, Uri, Pattan, Kunzer, Watergaam, Tangmarg and other areas of the district would be covered. He directed the authorities of all the Municipal Committees of the District to ensure cleanliness of roads, lanes and other surroundings coming under their jurisdictions in order to make the campaign of Swachch Bharat Mission a success.
The ADDC said that in near future schools, colleges and the civil society will be included in this drive seeking cooperation from people, the ADDC appealed them to cooperate with the administration, so that the environment of the District is maintained and the diseases avoided. He described closure of lanes and encroachments as one of the causes of recent devastating floods which destroyed precious lives, animals and other property in the state.
Among others, Executive Officers of the municipal councils and municipal committees of Baramulla, Sopore, Pattan, Uri, Kunzer,Watergaam and Tangmarg were also present on the occasion.
