Students witness Assembly proceedings

JAMMU: A group of female students from Government Girls Higher Secondary School Mubarak Mandi Jammu and GD Goenka Public School Jammu on Tuesday witnessed the proceedings of the Legislative Assembly to familiarise with the law making.
Students of classes 9th to 11th from GD Goenka Public School led by the Principal Rajesh Rathore and teacher Seema Sharma while students of Government Girls Higher Secondary School Mubarak Mandi Jammu from class 11th and 12th sat in the visitor gallery along with their teachers to witness Assembly proceedings.
The students observed the debate held between both the benches with a rapt attention. After attending an hour long session on the ‘traffic congestion’ in Jammu city, they proceeded to meet the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly, Kavinder Gupta and shared their experience with him. They also expressed gratitude to him on being allowed to witness the proceedings of the House.
The Speaker advised the students to explore the politics as a career option. “By entering politics, young leaders can introduce creative reforms in the society that can contribute for the larger well being of the society,” Gupta said.
Kavinder said, “Parents must go beyond the traditional job prospects, like, medical, engineering, etc and inspire their wards to join politics also”.
Responding to a question asked by the Speaker regarding her interest in joining politics, Urvi Kotwal of class 11th shared, “I am feeling quite inspired after visiting the House today. I will make my best efforts to groom myself for all the future needs to become a politician.” She felt very much excited to have witnessed the gracious presence of the Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti, her role model.
