JAMMU: SAI Training Centre (STC) beat APS Ratnuchak 63-24 to lift district youth basketball title here on Monday. STC warriors dominated the game since the very beginning and the APS Ratnuchak had little ammunition to match the fire power of the STC boys, who played pressure defense from the very beginning and dispossessed their opponents too often. Gourva Rajwal, Abhinav Sharma and Sumit Kumar combined well to outplay their opponents. Shivam Heer and Prashant also put up impressive performances. Their counter attacks were too sharp for the losing side to defend, but Hritik Choudhary put up a lone battle for APS Kaluchak. In the third quarter, the STC team gave chance to their bench, which gave opportunity to the APS team to increase the pace of the game, but their attacks lacked precision. The match was officiated by the official panel comprising Rajesh Bandral, Rajesh Bhagat, Vaneet Pangotra, Mousmi Verma and Ranbir Singh.
Mubassir Latifi, SSP Crime Jammu was the Chief Guest on the occasion, who along with Ranjeet Kalra, Vice Chairman District Sports Council gave away prizes to the teams. A total of 18 probables picked up from among the participating teams were announced by the Chairman Selection Committee of the J and K Basketball Association and senior SAI Basketball Coach, Amarjit Singh. Prominent persons present on the occasion included Ashok Singh, Treasurer JKBA, Abhishek Mahajan, Secretary DBA Jammu, senior coaches and officers of the SAI and State Sports Council.
