Status of four-laning of Jammu Akhnoor road reviewed

JAMMU: Divisional Commissioner, Dr. Mandeep K Bhandari reviewed the progress of four-laning of Jammu Akhnoor road on Wednesday.
Divisional Commissioner reviewed action taken by various stakeholders for construction of 30.7 km long 4 lane road from Jammu to Akhnoor.
During the meeting the Div Com directed the concerned departments to adhere to the timelines and asked for early start of on ground construction works of the project.
Dr Bhandari directed for completion of procedure for transfer of land to NHIDCL. Land acquisition for the project will be followed by floating of tenders for the project by NHIDCL which is the executing agency for the project.
He further asked PHE and PDD to submit estimates for shifting of their respective utilities so as to firm up the project costs.
Div Com also reviewed the status of forest clearance along with directions for submission of estimates of tree cutting and compensatory afforestation. He also asked district administration to appoint Competent Authority For Land Acquisition (CALA) and confirmation of area of government and private land associated with the project.
The meeting was attended by Chief Engineer I&FC, P.N. Bali, Chief Engineer PDD, Ashwani Kumar Gupta , Chief Engineer PWD (R&B) Sudhir Shah, ACR, Nissar A Shah, SDM Jammu North Mohd Alyas Khan , SDM Akhnoor, Sunaina Sharma , General manager NHIDCL and representative of Archaeological Survey of India.
